It took 10 years for former Miss World Linor Abargil to gather the courage to tell her story of survival after being abducted, stabbed and raped at the age of 18.
Her story is the subject of an award-nominated film, “Brave Miss World,” directed by Cecilia Peck.
In addition to sponsoring the screening at the Highlands, the Junior League of Wheeling hosted a Nonprofit & Community Leaders Breakfast November 8 at Wheeling Park. Cecilia Peck delivered the keynote address followed by a panel discussion. Panel members included Shawn Fluharty, WV House of Delegates; Lori Jones, Executive Director of the YWCA Wheeling; Chief Schwertfeger, Wheeling Chief of Police; Melody Osborne, Adolescent Health Initiative Coordinator, Marshall County FRN; and Ashley Garlow, Executive Director, Sexual Assault Help Center.
